Use Time Constraints

Use the Links & Constraints tab to apply constraints that control the start or finish date of the activity.

Ways to access

  • Select an activity in a time-distance view and select a constraint in the Object Properties pane > Links & Constraints tab.

Options

Possible constraints include:

  • Start on - This constraint sets the start date to the given date in the Start field.

  • Start on or before - The activity cannot start later than the given date in the Start field.

  • Start on or after - The activity cannot start earlier than the given date in the Start field.

  • Finish on - This constraint sets the finish date to the given date in the End field.

  • Finish on or before - The activity cannot finish later than the given date in the End field.

  • Finish on or after - The activity cannot finish earlier than the given date in the End field.

  • Work Between - The activity cannot start earlier than the given date in the Start field and cannot end after the given date in the End field.

  • Deadline - This is similar to the Finish constraint on or before, but allows the activity to slip beyond the given End date when rescheduled.
