Example: Working with Filters

These examples cover ways to define and use filters that can be created over libraries or directly in an integrated view with a time-distance cell. Filters for time-distance diagrams can be applied in the Cell Settings tab.

Filter for critical activities

Using this filter, you can find all activities with a free float and total float of zero.

  1. Right-click in a time-distance view and select Set Filter.

  2. Click New in the Activity Filter dialog.

  3. In the Name field for the filter, enter Critical Activities.

  1. Click the Edit filter criteria icon on the right side of the dialog.

  2. In the Filter Criteria dialog, enter Float time = 0 for the Name.

  3. Click the New icon to enter criteria.

  4. Select Free float in the Parameter list.

  5. Select equal in the is field (as the operator).

  6. Enter 0 as the Value.

  7. Click the New icon to create another criterion.

  8. Select Total float in the Parameter list.

  9. Select equal in the is field (as the operator).

  10. Enter 0 as the Value.

  11. Click OK to close the dialog.

  12. Click Apply Filter and review the results in the view.

  13. To restore the view, right-click in a time-distance view again and select Set Filter.

  14. Click the No Filter button.

Filter for categories

Using this filter, you can find activities that are allocated to a certain category.

  1. Right-click in a time-distance view and select Set Filter.

  2. Click New in the Activity Filter dialog.

  3. In the Name field for the filter, enter Category <choose a category>.

  4. Click the Edit filter criteria icon on the right side of the dialog.

  5. In the Filter Criteria dialog, enter Category <choose a category> for the Name.

  6. Click the New icon to enter criteria.

  7. Select Category in the Parameter list.

  8. Select contains in the is field (as the operator).

  9. Select any applicable category in the Value list.

  10. Click OK to close the dialog.

  11. Click Apply Filter and review the results in the view.

  12. To restore the view, right-click in a time-distance view again and select Set Filter.

  13. Click the No Filter button.

Filter for sections

Using this filter, you can find all activities that are allocated to a certain section.

  1. Right-click in a time-distance view and select Set Filter.

  2. Click New in the Activity Filter dialog.

  3. In the Name field for the filter, enter Section <choose a section>.

  4. Click the Edit filter criteria icon on the right side of the dialog.

  5. In the Filter Criteria dialog, enter Sections <choose a category> for the Name.

  6. Click the New icon to enter criteria.

  7. Select Category in the Parameter list.

  8. Select contains in the is field (as the operator).

  9. Select any applicable category in the Value list.

  10. Click OK to close the dialog.

  11. Click Apply Filter and review the results in the view.

  12. To restore the view, right-click in a time-distance view again and select Set Filter.

  13. Click the No Filter button.

  14. Right-click in a time-distance view and select Set Filter.

  15. Click New in the Activity Filter dialog.

  24. Click Apply Filter and review the results in the view.

  25. To restore the view, right-click in a time-distance view again and select Set Filter.

  26. Click the No Filter button.
