Export Data via the Clipboard

Use your Windows clipboard to exchange data types (such as activity templates) from various Tilos Explorer lists with other programs so that you have consistent data between the two. You can export to the clipboard and then paste the data from the clipboard into programs like Microsoft® (MS) Excel for further use, editing, and reimport.

Using existing Tilos data from your project data and libraries enables you to add equivalent data types to Activities in other programs before importing those projects into Tilos. Exporting and importing using your clipboard makes this exchange quick and easy. Data can be used to create formulas and macros, amend a project schedule, or edit library entries, such as assigning activity templates to MS Project Activities.

Exporting using the clipboard is not a substitute for native exporters or a subset of their functionality; you would have to copy and paste exactly the same data that is in, for example, MS Project or Primavera. Instead, the intent is to transfer information from your Tilos project data or library list views to make it available for use as types of predefined data in MS Excel for those other programs. Whether the data is project data or library data, the purpose of exporting via the clipboard is the same; it is to make Tilos project data types (not specific data) available elsewhere.

Note:  You cannot delete items via the clipboard. You can, however, change the data of existing items and re-import them into Tilos.

Note:  Many graphic objects and data, such as images, symbols, vector lines, and vector line endings, are exportable via the clipboard, but they cannot be imported.

Configure a list view

Use these steps to set up what is visible in a list view.

Export from a list view to the clipboard

Note:  If the Fields for Clipboard Import/Export dialog does not appear, all available fields in the list are exported.

Note:  The Read-only values can be exported, but will not re-import.

Tip:  If this copy/paste does not work as expected, make sure that nothing is selected in Excel by pressing Escape in that program.
