Example: Working with Histograms

These examples show you how to define and apply histograms. Histograms are created using a chart-object within a time or distance cell. For the following examples, it is presumed that you have already created a chart object within a time cell.

Histogram with the total cost and revenue next to each other

  1. Select a chart object in a time-distance view.

  1. In the Object Properties pane > Chart Object tab, click the New icon to create a new diagram.

  2. In the Select a chart type list, select Time Histogram. You will see the Histogram Properties dialog.

  3. Create a Histogram line for each account (Cost + Income).

  4. Place the Income in Group 1 (positive value) and the Cost in Group 2 (negative value).

  5. Open the Settings dialog for the histogram.

  6. Enter an Interval and activate the Stacking and Grouping options.

  7. For the grouping, select Side by side. You will see a stack with Cost and Income.

  8. Activate the Sum up option.

Note: Using the grouping you can also ascertain the difference between the groups.

Working with Histograms (Examples)

Histogram with the quantity of employees and machines (stacked)

  1. Select a chart object in a time-distance view.

  2. Make a new entry on the Chart Definition tab on the Details Toolbar.

  3. Select the Type - Histogram. You will see the Histogram Properties dialog.

  4. Create a histogram entry for every resource with the value Allocation.

  5. Place the resources personnel and machines in different groups.

  6. Open the Settings for the histogram.

  7. Enter an interval and activate the Stacking and Grouping options.

  8. For the grouping, select Side by side. You will see a stack with personnel and machines.

Histogram for usage resources related to delivery centers

For this histogram, you must allocate different delivery centers for the resource allocations for a consumable resource. You can define the delivery centers in the Cost And Resources - Delivery Centers library.

  1. Select a chart object in a time-distance view.

  2. Make a new entry on the Chart Definition tab on the Details Toolbar.

  3. Select the Type - Histogram. You will see the Histogram Properties dialog.

  4. Create for one consumable resource a histogram based on the value Quantity, Option Sum up unchecked and Show as field is Bar.

Create a histogram based on the Quantity value, Sum up option, Show as field is Line for the same consumable resource.

Example

Excavation for waste site 1 is created once as a Bar and once as a cumulative curve with the display as a Line.

  1. For each entry, select a filter by delivery center.

  2. Open the Settings for the histogram.

  3. Enter an Interval.
