When adding and editing activities in a Gantt chart, there are row-based functions and activity-based functions.
Creating Activities from Activity Templates
There are various ways to create new activities in a Gantt chart:
In the Tilos Explorer's Activity library, select the type of template from which you want to create an activity.
Do one of the following:
On the Insert toolbar, select Insert Activity, move your cursor to where the activity should be created, and click-and-drag to create the activity for the duration you need.
Drag-and-drop the Activity type from the library to the chart. When you drop the type, an activity is created with its start date at the location of your cursor.
Picking an existing row in the chart and press the Insert key on your keyboard. The new activity is created above the selected activity in the chart.
Note: You can also drag an activity from a Gantt chart to the Activity Template library to create a new activity template. The calendar and layer settings default to the last ones you used.
There are also advanced options on how to create Activities very quickly.
Changing Activities
Select one or more activities and change their attributes on the Details tab in the Object Properties pane.
Size or move the activities using the mouse.
Creating new templates from activities
Click-and-drag an activity from the Name column and drop it into the appropriate activity template group in the Tilos Explorer's Activity Library.
Row-Based Functions
A Gantt chart contains rows to enter required activities. Each row has a Bar Line Title field which is set to identify each activity by a title for the current activity. You can create as many rows as required for the project. You can also add, move, copy, and delete rows as needed. As many individual activities as needed can be entered In each row.
Insert New Rows
Right-click a row in the Bar Line Title column.
Choose Insert Bar Lines from the context menu, and enter the number of rows you want to insert.
The new rows are inserted below the selected one and new activities can be created.
Move Rows
To change the order of rows, not only individual activities:
Select a row in the Bar Line Title column and drag-and-drop the row to a new position.
The order of rows is changed now according to the needs of the current project.
Copy Rows
Select a row to be copied in the Bar Line Title column.
Press Ctrl, and drag-and-drop the copied row to a new position.
Delete Rows
To delete entire bar lines:
Right-click a row in the Bar Line Title column.
Choose Delete Bar Lines from the context menu.
The selected row is removed from the Gantt Chart.
Activity-Based Functions
Activities are individual activities that can be performed in a project. When you open a new project, it contains no activities. To work on a project, first create new Activities.
Move Activities
It is easy to change the position and order of activities Inside a Gantt Chart. To move an activity to another time position:
Hover the cursor over an activity that you want to move; the cursor will change to a cross shape.
Click to select the Activity; the cursor changes to a four-crossed arrow shape.
Click-and-drag to move the Activity to a new position.
Note: If you move aactivities across a row border, Tilos assumes that you only want to change the line in which the Activity was placed and not the start time, so all dates are retained.
Copy Activities
Hover the cursor over an activity that you want to move; the cursor will change to a cross shape.
Click to select the activity; the cursor changes to a four-crossed arrow shape.
Press Ctrl, and drag-and-drop the copied row to a new position.
Delete Activities
Select one or more activities to delete.
Press the Delete key or right-click and choose Delete from the context menu.
Note: If the last activity on a row has been deleted, the whole row gets deleted.
Creating and Changing Summary Activities
When you have a summary Activity, you can select multiple sub-Activities, right-click and select Indent Group from the context menu to move them under the summary. You can also do the reverse using the Outdent Group command in the context menu. With each indent, the Activities are indented one level in the hierarchy. If the second indented Activity is selected and indented, then the upper Activity is turned into a summary Activity. This is helpful when you edit or enter activities in a table and you want to apply the structure after that. You can also indent and outdent Activities by dragging-and-dropping them.
