Link Distance Coordinates
Use the Links & Constraints tab to link distance coordinates. Should two activities be linked on the distance, enable the Synchronize successor distance option. Should the length of the successor be updated, enable the Size successor as well.
Ways to access
Select an activity in a time-distance view and click the Links & Constraints tab in the Object Properties pane.
Example
Activities A and B are linked by a Finish-Start link. The Synchronize successor distance and Size successor are enabled.
Figure: Linking Distance Coordinates
The distance has been shortened for activity A. Following the calculation, the length of activity B will automatically be reset, the start is always the end of the predecessor.
Steps
Link activities on the distance
Select the predecessor activity.
Click-and-drag the link icon to the next activity until the cursor changes to look like the cursor shown to the right.
Edit the properties for the selected link in the Object Properties pane > Link tab.
For the Link type, select Finish - Start.
Select an option in the Synchronize successor list:
Size Successor - Change only the start distance point, so the length of the successor gets changed.
Move Successor - Change both distance coordinates and moves them in distance.
Start and End distance - Set for the successor to have the same coordinates as for the predecessor.
Size the successor (support train) -
Calculate the activity by pressing F9 on your keyboard or clicking the Reschedule icon on the toolbar.
If the Size Successor option is not enabled, the successor activity is simply moved.
